Has anybody seen that catastrophic failure on one of these downhill record attempts? It'll be on you tube somewhere. Basically the fundamental design flaw is to use a headtube steering system like a traditional bike IMO. That Colnago is all wrong. The forces behind the fork would be enormous. It should have fixed beam incremental steering adjustment with some sort of high speed solid wheel assembly. But then I guess is that no longer classified as a push bike?
^ Like this. (But no engine)
25 kg of Bike

Surely is a case of sarcasm recognition fail on side of MT? =))
I considered the possibility that he was taking the piss, but felt it worthwhile to clarify the issue for any genuinely interested bystanders.

1: A conventional frame is fine as long as you build it strong enough
2: With the limited resources available, designing, building and testing a hub-centre steered bike would be a nightmare, and certainly more risky.
3: If the Tesi was any good, all bikes would be built like that. Interesting idea, but neither Bimota nor Elf ever made it competitive, and the Yamaha GTS1000 was a commercial flop, since any benefits of the system were insufficient to justify the cost. -

A GTS1000 was raced in the tt though. More likely it's just that people are hesitant trying to get their heads around something different (ugly?) especially when there are manufacturers spending 10's of millions on conventional technology. There are pro's and cons to both systems
Mountain bikes went nuts for leading link forks (whyte, girvin, use...) what happened to this, bit of an engineering back alley as far as mtb goes.

RRRRREeeeeeeeeeeepoooossst!
very shallow seat angle for a track frame ,wonder if its converted from a road frame
-
• #37949
Who would go to the trouble of converting a road frame then chroming the rear end?

Picking at straws because that Merckx is sploff.
But I would prefer it with a non-glossy bar tape
I think the puke in that animated image isn't real either :o
