nice ! wish i had gone down today .....mavic hub / ma40 nicked :(
the question where will they sell now .....yesterday i saw a white van on my local estate selling bikes (mainly mountain) and spares literally off the back ! not sure if they are donated for the poor decent kids or they are commandeered from the wealthier hard working middle classes who just popped into M+S for a bottle of fizzy stuff and when i came out it was gone ?

The bastards strike again. Half an hour ago mine was nabbed from Notting Hill Gate. Rode to Tesco, locked it, still there when I came out. Saw a mate, went to McDonalds with him, 10 minutes later - vanished.
They even took the lock, an Abus Varedo; £45 of crap. Most expensive 2 double cheeseburgers ever. Nothing stops these people - busy area, people everywhere, daylight. No problem to them. They're everywhere. Got a build nearly ready, but I was depending on the sale, and it's public transport until it's finished for me now. Blue SE Draft, stripped of decals, black rear tyre, grey Charge spoon. No OTP jokes. They won't stop me riding though.
Kill 'em all.

Will do. I’m armed with a crime reference number and a belly full of spite. I actually don’t want to dampen this spirit of this thread, as the good news stories are really nice; I watched the thread last week when that stolen bike was spotted and recovered down Stockwell, so I’m just hoping for the best. I’ve posted in the stolen bikes thread too – maybe I spread myself a bit too thick.

Had my bike stolen in the area a few years ago. Friend told me to go straight to Brick Lane which we did. Where two people came straight towards us, one pushing my bike. Grabbed it of him with some kind of verbal force which got the crowd on my side and made them retreat. Still can not believe my luck.

Just had my brooks nicked from where my bike was locked up on Bunhill row. I'm suitably livid as you can imagine... going to head to Brick lane this sunday, what time do I need to be there for? I know the market starts early but are the thieving little shits really there first thing or is it more like mid morning?
I'm bloody fuming, I cannot afford to replace it at all, as usual these things come at the worst fucking times

Hope you get your wheels back TheorySwine, fingers crossed.
Good news dicki and good effort on the update.
Good news all round that we're now seeing solid evidence that the police are taking bike theft seriously and doing something about it.

You better get down there super early...
I got my front wheel, brooks, seatpost, saddlebag stolen but not seen a single one of them at Brick Lane. -

Aaargh this is the thing though isn't it... If I go there I'll always think I've just missed it, if I don't go I'll keep thinking that I should have gone.
Fucking bike thieves. Even after the stuff is nicked I'm thinking about what I should do, I think the glimmer of hope that I might find it is actually worse than giving up
Your Sunday morning feel good story
Last week a two friends had some parts stolen off their bikes. Obvious response get yourself down Brick Lane and check for the bits on Sunday morning.
Come sunday morning he went down Brick Lane and immediately spotted the parts he had stolen ( £ 300 squids worth ) . Due to the new wave of activity by the Anti Bike theft branch of the police the parts were returned and the market stall holders details were taken down.
The Police are now making a concerted effort to crack down on the guys selling bike parts / bikes. Police will be down Brick Lane every Sunday from now on so it is now up to us to start assisting them rid the streets of the bike theiving scum. No excuses if a bike gets stolen / parts get stolen, report them immediately and head down Brick Lane and see if you can spot them. We all know the usual culprits the police now have CCTV installed in the most riddled area. Lets get on board with the Cycle Task Force and get the crims locked up.
There are no longer any excuses, can we crack bike crime, YES WE CAN.
If you need to contact them there is an e-mail address and a mob. number
