i'm going to guess the wheel was pretty close to end of the dropout and the wheel got twisted/hit and the axle bent the dropout. i can't see that happening in the post.

couldn't have happened in the post
just take a pair of pliers/molegrips to it, and bend it back, should be ok -

I would suggest that the frame has not been damaged in transit, like above poster, looks like wheel has pulled out.
Those dropouts are very malleable, if you put a hollow bar on the bent bit and bend it back, it should be fine

it helps to heat the part of the dropout you're going to bend with a blowtorch (heat it for 5 minutes plus) before bending. (try not to heat the braze between the dropout and the stays); it helps to retain the integrity of the metal, should bend back nae bother!

I just bought the frame off a guy, he sent by post. He didnt mention the bent dropout so I'm guessing he will say it happened in the post and it might have... BUT CAN IT? Its bent downwards but isnt bent left or right just down.
