It's gone quiet in here...

  • Or am I just imagining it?

I would have expected forum usage to increase during the winter months, due to the fact that people would be riding less frequently, and perhaps sat at home more often. But the opposite is true. Seems that the more riding gets done, the more people want to come on here and chat about riding. But what are people doing now while there's no riding to do and no shit is being chatted?

  • Yeah I think it is quiet, the Birmingham forum particularly!

I managed to ride to work on monday and tuesday last week, and have been getting the train since then, both my bikes are on 23's and some of the smaller roads are really bad (that's my story and i'm sticking to it)...

been on the turbo trainer every night now, windows open, shorts on, still end up pouring with sweat !

considering selling the fuji im beating at the moment, save some money for when something nice pops up in the for sale section when the evenings start to get a little warmer and lighter :)

  • maybe it's that people are riding less...so thinking about bikes less...so coming on here less?

I just built a bike so i am on here even more than usual (it's on my mind a lot!) and i can't ride the fucking thing because i have some back issues and my physio has banned me :-(

  • /attachments/20041

i've been out riding in the snow, but not fixed cos i just end up wheel spinning on the ice. gonna build some new wheels at the weekend if i have time. i miss daylight.

Did you just read what I wrote and make the same point, but backwards?

  • it seems like when people ride an average amount, they do an average amount of posting.

  • I agree...

I love the banter, but it seems so much quieter... Maybe the fixie trend is finally over... All the hipsters are moving on.

  • I guess I did!

    good point,well made pastrylover :-)

  • neil do you still live mosely/kings heath way? just ur photo looks like the roads around there.

do u still see mark or lucy?

i do it all the time without realising it!

  • Evening all.
I'm still alive - cycling to work where possible, and getting some quality sessions in on the rollers most days.
My running has picked up since this snow kicked in - put in 45 miles last week. It amazing how much stronger my legs feel with a bit of cross training. Anyone fancy a run?

    where are you based?
i run a lot, i train at a track for sprints but i need to get out running :)

  • Digbeth - top of Bradford St. How about you?

yeah still in moseley. i see mark all the time, he runs the union bar at the edgbaston bcu campus so i go in for free coffee.

  • When the weather is this continuously bad, doing any sort of cycling after work becomes a chore. When it was snowing i spent most of my energy staying on my bike and and/or dodging inept drivers spinning out of control.
I've got a week off next week. Anyone want to cycle to london with me? I'll bring the hip flasks.

  • i've been offline due to moving house, but it's all set up now.

i blame the lack of polo - the 6-10 regular players must have been on here almost daily to check events and often had to sign in to respond to polls and organise games.

seems milder this week - hope polo happens on wednesday!

no, but i'm interested in what route you would take. i have no idea how to get anywhere without going on A roads. anything faster than 30mph would shit me up big time. i suppose as long as you know which towns you need to go through you can just follow B-road signs to each one...

  • week off? la-di-dah...

i'll be going out for a long ride on monday - could head out together?

  • i rode london using a lot of A roads, nay problem

there is no real nice way to get there without extending the distance from 'long' to seriously long.

This summer im doing, Birmingham - London - london bikeathon - london - birmingham, 300 miles, 24 hours, no sleep for 40 hours :S,

i'll be in selly oak hospital if anyone needs me.
