After riding track pedals with clips and double straps for a few months I find it completely second nature to flip the pedal and get my foot in, it seems to happen without even making a conscious effort...
However, after riding on BMX pedals and Holdfast straps this morning I felt like a complete newbie again, obviously there is no lip on the pedal to flip it around, what's the technique to use? With track pedals I just place the middle of the shoe over the upside down pedal and pull back. I'm guessing with BMX pedals it's more a case tapping the pedal with your toe to flip it round?
I ride with BMX pedals and holdfasts on my every-day bike and use the same method as track pedals - dragging the pedal over from front to back. It doesn't work so well on shoes with a less grippy sole or in the wet. When this happens I kind of grip the front corner of the padel from the side to flip it.
