Glad you enjoyed it! I dont think its ms.chris' thing regrettably...
Dont apologise for being a beginner. Everyone had to start sometime and get to grips with controlling the bike and hitting the ball. You did well today.
Do you ride brakeless normally around the city?I'd recommend regular attendance on Tuesday evenings if you can organise it.
Downham on Sundays might be a bit of a baptism of fire... although I guess there's no better way to learn and improve than playing with established players.Unfortunately I have a regular commitment on tuesdays that I can't currently wiggle out of. This scheduling problem chafes my nips something rotten. Am trying to organise around it.
I do have a brake on my daily bike, it's just not very effective! Skidding with a brake was a bit woooaargh.... yeeeah.
We popped by Donwham on the way back, but they were scarily impressive.
I think some hardcore solo practise on shots and skills might improve before I can face Downham. You were all really supportive and encouraging though. Especially after I ran head on into the wall. If there are any more gentle sunday knock arounds please count me in.

just play when and where you can, tuesday is awesome for some good polo time and to practice certain skills, and downham is awesome to progress faster -

Can't seem to post a new thread in the classifieds but has anyone got a spare bit of pipe for a mallet head?
Can swap for a nordic carbon blinging fibre walking pole as I picked up two off freecycle on Friday. They're quite long and have hand straps which may or may not be a good idea.
Will be at the beginner sesh in peckham tmrw so if so, let me know and I'll bring one along.

Carbon polo mallet?
I hope you have a lot of them...It's not really a classifieds thread mate, keep it in the polo sections, and more than that, UTFS. There is more than one thread on mallet head pipes.

You should get some joy from there. Failing that, they can be found on the roads fairly easily.
Good luck.

It's not a good idea, you'll end up being pulled off the bike, when your mallet tangles with someone else.
I can spare a head of yellow pipe if you want it.

Yep, I'll have that John H, ta. Do you want a pole in exchange?
Will you be at peckham tmrw?
And yeah, good shout on the straps : )

It's just to get started so I can chuck one in and not have to wait plus it was free. Will probs pick up a golf club when I find one.
Slap wrists for me then : )

No, if it's carbon it won't last long anyway, so you'll need it. And no I won't be, but I will be at NE polo at some point this week. Is that any good for you?
-

Ha, just saying. The search function is your friend.
Cool that it's free but it probably won't last long mate. Ski poles are the best, just not carbon ones.I have plenty of spare mallets so no worries.

Your post will appear soon but because you are relatively new to the forum it will have to be ok'd by a mod.

There were five of us, so we played a bit of 2 v 2, 2 v 3, bb game, etc.
Inkymitts and ms.chris had played a small bit before but were still just getting to grips with dribbling, shooting, turning, etc, so the pace was relaxed, nothing too hectic.maybe next week?
Maybe early on Sunday again. Like 9am or something.

Sorry, really not a fan of the carpark so unlikely I'll be there anytime in the near future. Will be NEs at some point this week but that might be a bit far for you guys. Otherwise fancy turning up early on Sat for a bit of practice before our first game?
Glad you enjoyed it! I dont think its ms.chris' thing regrettably...
