sorry for your loss syntek
check brick lane sunday 8.30am onwards sclater street
the early bird catches the worms
read the opening post on the " what to do when your bike is stolen " thread get the bike theft task force involved and they can then make arrests -

Cheers dicki I was planning to go have a look on Sunday, but not holding much hope in finding it.

they are thick as fuck and they have been getting away with it for years
you'd be surprised at how they just keep turning up at brick lane week after week selling stolen stuff
even with the police making more of an effortgood luck
-
• #5
ouch syntek. That really sucks :/ I will keep my eyes peeled. Also make sure to check gumtree for genericly-listed bikes.
Can I ask you how it was locked / how they managed to get it when it was stolen? (in an attempt to exacerbate my already acute paranoia)

good luck

Mate, I'm sure there aren't many red Planet X's about at the moment, but that doesn't mean everyone riding one has nicked it.
-
• #8
Not sure what you are on about Notsoblue? As far as I can tell no one is emplying that everyone riding a red planet X or Cinelli Vigorelli should be stopped and questioned - the idea of posting here is so that people can be vigilant on the off chance that one of the bikes ends up on Ebay, Gumtree, Brick lane - wherever. Just common sense right?
Thanks for your input.

Oops, wasn't you then... Was interrogated about my bike as I was coming through Smithfield this morning. Chap was quite rude.
Anyway, hope you find your bikes. Really sucks to be deprived of your ride :(
-
• #10
Shit! Did they break into your office? Are you covered on the company's insurance?

Hey, Syntek, what was the outcome? Did it turn out to be yours? I'm asking because I'm also from PL and I remember seeing that auction. Phil parts are very rarely found on Allegro so it did attract my attention. Especially that they couldn't spell it right.

has this been resolved??
-
• #15
Amazingly - YES this has now been resolved and I have the bike back in my possession!
A big thanks to cyberpunk23 (based in Poland) who spotted it for sale on a Polish auction website. We found out it was a shop who had bought it and was re-selling it however when told it was a stolen bike (and supporting photos and info given) the shop owner sent the bike straight back to me with no problems at all! Unhappy and unwilling to knowingly sell a stolen bike. I guess it would be bad for business but its great to think there are some honest people still out there.
Amazing story and so happy to have the bike back. Big thanks again to cyberpunk23 for helping and also to the shop for sending it back!

Wow - win! How on earth did it end up in Poland I wonder?
Most people are honest. And generally nice. Worth remembering.

Great news.

Well, it's not unheard of for a theft to steal as much bicycles as possible, pop it in a container/vans and take it elsewhere - easier to sell (like Henry's Geekhouse).

• #19
WOW this makes me feel better after the footie result!
-
• #20
That is bloody fantastic. Nice to get the occasional massive feelgood in what's otherwise a depressing litany of lovely bikes going to scrotes.
-
• #21
and no, I don't mean the Classified section
-
• #22
Thats a wicked resolution....!!!
This type of thing would make a 'good' news story for the media.. -
• #23
Absolutely WIN. It's times like this you wish you had a GPS tracker small enough to have been able to trace the bike's movements. Well done cyberpunk23 for spotting it!
-
• #24
I was involved in the development of a mini GPS tracker that would be small enough to fit into a seat tube. Only issue is ensuring that the batteries stay charged and also needs to get a good sattelite fix and GSM signal if it is going to text your whereabouts...
The technology is there, the way to make it work well isnt quite there yet.
-
• #25
Hopefully it's only a matter of time. I know some of the current GPS trackers on the market send a text to your phone when the battery's running low, it's just that issue of getting the signal out (and obviously the size issue). If only my knowledge of Physics was better...

This was stolen from my office building in Smithfield last night along with a mates brand new red Planex.
Please keep your eyes peeled and if you have any info drop me PM.
58 Cinelli Vigorelli (with some temporary black steel forks on it instead of the originals) It also has a black H+S rim on the front now instead of the white rim in this pic. Other than that its the same as in the pic.
White Concor seat, Thomson stem, Cinelli Pepper bars, carbon seatpost, Phil wood hubs on blk H+S on the front & Phil on a white B43 on the back, Miche Primato chainset, Black NS pedals with Jol straps, half link chain.
This was the PlanetX that also got nicked with it - http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CBPXSLPR/sl-pro-carbon-sram-red
Any help would be much appreciated.
