This will not take a back brake.
It's Aeroplane tubing and is therefore not round. That point is moot, due to ^^^

Maybe a coaster hub would be possible, but the chainstays are pretty hefty so the clamp may not go round it.
Just ride it fixed. There's nothing sadder than a track frame with a freewheel on it.

Are you saying aeroplanes only use square tubing?
I think it refers to the grade of alloy, not the shape of the section.
The light stuff basically, as used in aviation.

Columbus Airplane. It's the name of the tubeset

And merging is the name of the game.

So is it called airplane because of it's use in other industries, or because of it's shape?
-

Dunno about merging it (to the Vigorelli/Mash thread I suppose?), it's a specific question, not been asked before.
We don't merge every thread about Mercians, raleighs or Holdsworths into a single thread do we.

Comes from aerospace industry.

Ok.... so if someone has this same question in future, wouldn't it be easier to find it in one single thread?
Instead of 2, 3, 4, ...? -

Not sure. It's triple butted 7005 aluminium.
It does have specific tube shapes. The top is this 6 sided elongaged teardrop affair, and the downtube is just bloody weird.
you can get a better idea of the tube shapes in this pic.

Cable ties.
White for the front, blue for the back. Do it neatly and it will look x100 better than metal clips. Mixing old school detailing with modern frames generally looks gash. Bit like putting a brown brooks on it.
Or get one of these - you know you want to.

This thread contains no win at all..

I'm guessing you've never ridden one?
Just a hunch.

the fork is drilled and covered with putty. It will not take a rear brake, and we had one in the shop recently, reckon it would be golden for 28mm tires but maybe not 32s.

Would it not be easier just getting a pashley Guvnor ffs

Sorry to hijack, does anyone know how I can fit 700c wheels into my BMX frame?
-

I can think of a way.

Lucky you.

^there is a solution for a rear brake when there is no hole in the bridge. I'm surprised velodrome shop didn't already try that one on you.
Actually, there are one or two good reasons why you might want to put a back brake on a track bike.

To all you Cinelli Vigorelli 2010 frame owners.
