What's the benefit? How do you adjust the preload?

The benefit may be that it is slightly kinder to any part of your body that catches or hits it in as much as hitting a solid piece of metal with your body can be.

i don't get this kind of detailing. it isn't working into the natural events contained within the frame. its just extra metal. annoying. It's like the lip-ring of bicycles.

They're Ceeway Arrowhead lugs (or very similar) and they're one way for small, independent framebuilders to inject a different aesthetic into their constructions. It might not be for you, but then I guess neither would a Mercian Vincitore or a curly Hetchins with all that unnecessary metal.

Some people are just so modern.
