Isn't the topography screaming out for a road bike? Could you cycle up to the peak or so? That'd be a blast!
I think apart from men on old rusty delivery bikes I only saw one sporty cyclist in full lycra with carbon jobbo during my 6 days there. On the island side, came down Tin Tau Temple Road, close to where my hotel was.
What about Lan Tau. Is there roads there? I only came up with the cable car, and that side didn't have many, but I think there is potentially a good ride to be had.
