  • will there be:
more alcohol available and more staff serving to avoid long queues
more food available and more staff serving/cooking to avoid long queues
a coffee van like the rapha one (or similar) for those not wanting booze.
more under canvas space if it rains and space on the other side of the lit scaffold boards so more people can see the carnage?

everyone i know who went last year thought it was great, there will be more people this year.

  • ah thanks winston, had a complete brain malfunction and thought it was wednesday today....

  • That video brings back nightmares.

  • c'mon Clive, have another go

yes to most of that, with ideas like these you should organise your own events, HH needs promoters!

  • Sorry if I've missed something, but where do you volunteer to marshal?

    Hello?

  • entries now reopened and they're flooding in again...

Oliver, yes, are you volunteering to be volunteer coordinator?

  • yes to most of that

What do you mean "most"? will there be a coffee van or not?

Shall I bring my cafetiere just in case?

I'll be coming in from a (probably) hectic day doing a go-ride race, will need coffee to get through watching Muddy Hell

  • if there isn't you should PM bombcup. he may know somebody with a mobile coffee cart who might be interested in having a pitch.

Yes, I could do that. Although I wouldn't be able to do much planning beforehand, I'd be happy to co-ordinate people on the day (plenty of stewarding experience).

I think we had a list on the thread for helpers the last time around--might be the easiest way to go again?

Last time, only a few marshals were needed along the course, so let us know if you need vols for anything else.

You moany old git! I don't think its meant to be an ordeal to be endured...miss you!

  • I don't think its meant to be an ordeal to be endured.

No but I want to be awake for the full effect of watching people dressed as pumpkins falling of their bikes, what's not to like?

  • There was plenty of Red Bull left last year. Caspar's been living off the leftovers fro the last 12 months!

  • have you seen the bridge?

  • I saw Caspar in his overalls building stuff on Sunday, looked like something off scrapheap challenge stood by a pile of sleepers. I was half expecting him to start shouting proper job before customising a tractor.

  • More of a ramp at the moment! - but yeah - looks awesome. I wanted to put a "Bridge Out" sign on it.

  • Take it to the bridge!

I reckon we should have a big stack of speakers underneath it, with METAL being blasted out to scare the riders as they cross.

  • Take it to the bridge!

I reckon we should have a big stage underneath it, with RPM on guitar blasting out METAL to scare the riders as they cross.

Corrected, we've all seen photos from yer band days!

  • No METAL is needed - given how high the bridge looks, those of us who suffer from a fear of heights are going to be scared just riding over it each lap.

  • ha!

  • Very nicely written.

As we couldn’t find a flyer for the evening, here’s a picture of the course being built. Apparently, one Caspar “Get orf my laaand!” Hughes, an eighth-generation townie from “that there Laandan” who has never so much as eaten a salad let alone tended a window box, laid claim to being able to drive a tractor and so was put in charge of building the course. This is the inevitable result, an overturned 4.5 tonne earth-mover. It seems that, true to form, farmer Hughes leapt off mid-collision and sprinted from the scene, stopping only to grab his starbucks skinny-mocha cappuchino and his iPad that he was using to tweet his progress only minutes earlier. True story…

  • Entries will be closing soon (prob Wednesday), 5 places left in the women's and about 10 in the seniors....we will not be taking entries on the day...

  • Looks like my cross bike is not going to be in a fit state to race soon...if anyone is keen to take my go race entry, please pm me. Will be coming along with my cow bell to cheer along from the side
