  • Prolly too last minute, this, but just in case:-

Next Saturday evening I'm training to Skipton, for a night in a cheap B&B. After an early breakfast on Sunday I'm going to attempt a few http://www.bikemap.net/route/729884. It's another route based upon Simon Warren's hill book, featuring six climbs including: Fleet Moss (Yorkshire's highest Road) and Park Rash (former national hill climb course).

Pace on the flat? There is no flat, but you should be inclined to rattle through the route in one go (with mebe a short pause for a bite of lunch and a "Fuck me, this is really quite hard"). I'm not massively racy (I can't push myself over 40mph on descents), but I do love a climb and I don't intend on hanging about unnecessarily. However, two massive thumbs up for friendly regrouping. Absolutely.

Back to Skipton for a takeaway, before the train home just after 19:00 (so bags of time in which to complete the route).

The trip could accommodate up to four, including me.

The main con is that, now inside the final week, this trip will cost you around £90 (b'bye, everybody). Unfortunately there's no longer a significant saving to be made on advance train tickets.

Also, this will be my first time out on the Dales, so I'm no expert on the locality. That said, I've now done a few "join the dots" style hilly routes, and I'm growing in confidence with them. Exploring the UK during the latter part of the year has been great fun.

Thassit. Drop me a note and I'll explain a bit more, or mebe just wait until I post an overenthusiastic message next Sunday night.
