  • You can run it exposed but you will need to oil the cable more often than normal as there will be more grit getting into the outers.

    If it helps I use teflon coated inners.
    Nokon from the lever to the front brake, split with an oiler in the first 3 inches.
    Nokon from the lever to the toptube, an oiler, a run of normal cable to half way down the seatstay, an oiler, then nokon the for the remaining run to the disk brake.

    If that wasn't clear enough. The oilers join 2 bits of outer together. You don't really need them if you're only running short lengths of cable from the lever to the frame stops.
