yeah i wasn't sure about that either but i've got more cranks hanging around, i wasn't even intending to put them with the bike - just threw them in for free with the frames. i wasn't even intending to build the bike - just sell the frame - but it's helped to soak up a few odds and ends i had lying around that need to go one way or the other
- it's too small for me, (mine's here: http://static.lfgss.com/attachments/31820d1286731494-sl377902.jpg )- i'm going to sell it. if the cranks are an issue i'll swap them and sell those green ones as an SS set up (or put them on the orange peril, certainly not on the red barron ) . guess it's up to the buyer's taste (or lack thereof) maybe i should have gone for white.
just took the orange peril out for full 40 odd miles test old king cole style over the fearsome holme moss: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holme_Moss[/ame]
- hub is faultless - truly solid and zero lash in all gears and super smooth due to possibility of very fine tuning of all chain lines (thought it was making very worrying noises until i realised fireworks were being let off nearby - i had my earphones on! )
topped 31 mph - i've never done that on a fixed before - exhilarating, especially as it was a test run - not only of the hub but of the dropout repair my fiend made

Looks good dpres! Be warned tho, the nazi's are sure to give you a rinseing for the + degree extremety of such a stem on a TT machine!

I only take offence at your bar angle. Tilt them sons of bitches up a bit.

Buy a bike that fits.

AHHHH F*****CKKKK, stripped the pedal threading from my friend's right hand crank putting the pedal in at a slight angle. ordered new ones today. just to make me feel better (or worse), has anyone else done this before? also i should just throw the crank arm away (minus chainrings) shouldnt i? no other use for it?
p.s. dont worry, theyr just old 105s, nothing of beauty was mangled
Screw a pedal into the reverse side of the crank arm. This is often enough to clear the threads and make them usuable again.
Im guessing you never brute forced the pedal in at the wrong angle? If it was only partially screwed in, it might be ok.
Dont knock shimano 105. Most of us would struggle to afford a new bike with anything better than tiagra. 105 cranks would be better quality than basic FSA's or sugino messengers that OTP single speeds tend to have.

Cyanoacrylate (superglue) or Epoxy (Araldite) will both work on some plastics, surface preparation is the key. Some plastics are a bugger to glue with anything, PTFE (Teflon) being the obvious one.
With a mechanical key, and microfibres, proper epoxy (not araldite) wil stick anything to anything. I've used it to bond nylon sprockets to metal axles, and it's take a massive amount of torque and power without the join failing.

beautiful bike, sure stem is maybe not ideal but if it's a means to an end. everything else looks bang on.

With a mechanical key
But that's not bonding, it's in situ casting of an adapter :-)

what's the best glue for gluing metal to plastic?
my current project is gluing something to something.JB Weld. ridiculous stuff. i've used to to glue a large washer to either side of a rotted car chassis where the swing arm attached. worked for as long as i had the car.

i saw some of that in a demonstration stand today, it's like liquid granite that stuff.. i tried to break it apart but it's deadly strong.

Really? Fuck me thats impressive.
Reckon I can fix a cracked dropout with it?

it's ridiculous. he bought the bike and fitted the stem. frontr cable is too short. just ridiculous.

depends.
i doubt it.
this worked very well because the strength was mostly derived from the rigidity of the glue and not it's ability to stick. I was also workign with a very large porous surgace area.
don't get me wrong, it's sticky stuff. but fixing a small smooth dropout? doubt it.

Thanks mate, appreciate the comment.

I didn't buy the whole bike. I built it up from the frame alone. I have two stems so I can change to a steeper angle if I would so wish, that is why the front brake cable is a little on the short side.

from the pictures it looks like the frame is way to small for you. it might be an optical illusion. I wonder what the bike whisperer would say about your set up?
at the end of the day if you find it comfortable riding thats all that matters. Thanks mate, appreciate the comment.

recent 531c tourer build
Rad and I like the coloured cranks! Are they Stronglight? I have some that look very similar on my bike right now, although only because I'm trying out a new gear. I think they look ugly in silver tho.

Free wheelset from TokyoFixed (they're throwing it out), 27" with 5 speeds hubs, reasonably light, probably going to replace the spokes though;
Borrowing this exquisite Roberts from reculver for the missus to to to Paris and back with me, anyone have a 80mm stem that they can lend? (26mm clamp size), cannot believe how lovely it is to ride it.
