Aye, it is what it is, and that's partly why it go the label "The world's most unfriendly bike forum."
This forum inspired me to build my first frame, taught me an awful lot about mechanical bits and bobs and introduced me to the Tweed Run, all of which I am immensely grateful for. I have seen, and received great generorsity from members who I hadn't met before. All this is Good Thing.
It seems a terrible shame to see a Good Thing get a bad reputation, and while the banter I refered to is not nasty or unfriendly, it is intimidating (in an immediate sense, rather than a sinister one) and it is disrespectful to the OP. I would like people to consider that more, that is all.
