  • HI all,

Just signed up, as I've decided to convert my Cotic BFe to single speed for the winter, and if i get on with it, I'll be keeping it that way. I'm having a few problems with the chain skipping as it comes up and over the cog. I'm thinking it's because of the chain not quite being tight enough, I've used a chain tensioner, but it's still not working. Without the tensioner i can't get the chain tight enough, as it's a vertical drop out frame.

Would a half link chain help?

    Any advice would be amazing!

Quite new to the fixed gear scene, since I've only been riding for a year or so. I've been lurking for a while, but decided it was time to sign up and be active :)

Are you here to try and sell things with a vaudeville degree of misdirection and subterfuge and then to engage in political levels of spin and weaseling to explain why you are all above board and a poor misunderstood soul with a heart of gold?

Insofar as it may be possible for one person to achieve betterment through the bartering and exchange of goods on a open market with the intention to improve oneself and amend that which has been somewhat remiss, then yes, yes I haz spoks. See the Classifieds tomorrow.

  • Hi folks, another newbie ready for ridicule. I currently jog to work and want to get some wheels for the 5 1/2 mile journey instead. I've got a budget of about £350 that could maybe be stretched a little. I had a ride on a fuji classic at the weekend and quite liked the feel of it but I've also been looking at charge, specialized and felt single speeds.
    Any advice would be great!!
    Thanks!

  • Mark13 another newbie here, been riding a single speed for the last coupla weeks after trashing my too many geared disc braked over engineered aluminum can mtb for 2010 Raleigh Burner. Also currently scraping the rust off a single speed Triumph Roadster i got at the re-cycling centre for £20. Single speed is the way forward!

Plugs are currently £300 at Wiggle.

  • OOps I typed Raleigh Burner! I meant Raleigh Bomber!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Balki, I'll have a look.
Are the charge bikes the better of the bunch? Sorry to be so clueless.

  • Lots of opinions in that thread.

Use that search box up there ^

  • I'm on it.. Just read the nursery rules about asking too many stupid questions that have probably been asked a million times before. Thanks for your help! Much appreciated.

  • Hi to one and all, just getting started.

  • that's treemendous. Welcome

  • Don't start giving him stick already

  • I went with the charge plug, 299 on wiggle. More than happy with it. Yes it
is heavier than my road and cross bikes, but the ride is great and at the price
i felt I couldn't go wrong. Give it a look, but check sizing, I have all my measurements
from buying my other bikes, so found it easy to buy the right size on line.

  • ^^ wood I?
