49t chainring for Fuji track?

Posted on
  • I currently have a 48/18 setup that I really like but would like more patches as my tyres are wearing down quite quickly, I really like the current gearing but would probably like to go longer rather than spinnier so I think a 49t chainring might be the right way to go.

Can anyone tell me/ recommend the type of chainring I need? is it a 144 mm?

    Thanks

  • if it is 144mm, the center to center of adjacent stack bolts will be 84.6mm

tomasito, I think a 17t on the back may be a bit longer than I want?

benjam, I think my thighs are insufficiently 'Hoy' for a 15t

    libre, i'll check the bolts

    cheers

  • careful because the fsa chainring's dished so just any other ring with a matching bcd will throw your chainline out.

True. We´re talking 3-4 mm at least...

  • Cheers for the info.

There don't seem to be alot of different sized 'dished' chainrings available !

If I can't find one of these I think it may be a choice between 48 x 17/19

  • well 19t cog will be 19 skid patches, 17=17

  • Yeah they're both great from a patch/ tyre wear point of view , it's just the choice between more grind or more spin? hmm choices

  • Hi, im riding a fuji,

having real trouble finding out about this 'dished chainring' bollocks,

my stock chainring is the shape of a pringle and needs replacing so i was looking at some 5 hole, 130bcd, 1/8th chainrings from various places, going to go with 49t...

but what needs to be done about this dishing issue? does this mean its not possible to change just the chainring on a stock fuji BB and the stock fsa cranks?

this means the whole bb/cranks/chainring assembly has to be completely replaced because i bent the ring? sounds silly!

    anyone?

  • Balls, didn't realise the Track chainring is dished... Got to look at mine more closely next time... I use a 16 tooth freewheel, has anyone changed their chainring on a Fuji track and got any advice? I don't particularly want to change the bb and I'm not going to find a smaller freewheel, so is there anything in the 53 tooth range that anyone can recommend or want to get rid of? I have some stuff for swapping if you fancy on this thread:
