  • Price drop frame and forks

  • Pop the original forks back on the frame... Be a lot nicer buy then.

  • Ummm... are you sure that chainstay is 'dented'?

To me it looks more like it's been put there by the frame builder to allow for clearnce for larger chain rings.

Maybe google image some frames and compare and contrast.

  • I'm pretty sure it probably was done on purpose, yeah - but it's still a dent.

Would put the curved forks back on but I don't have the tools to get the headset race off, so thought I'd offer it up with the chrome forks first in case anyone wants it that way.

  • dibs forks, pm coming

  • I'll buy the chrome forks if you decide to swap the forks over.

  • I'm pretty sure it probably was done on purpose, yeah - but it's still a dent. ....

I guess you're right, but in the OP you're implying that it's damage that doesn't structurally effect the frame where as it's part of the frame design....

...in which case you should probably mention the 3 gaping holes in the frame too ;)

  • The bottom of the chainstay looks dented, below and left of the frame builder's 'chainring dent'

Maybe I should charge extra for the 'design feature' dent (and holes)?!

  • Keep the frame and original forks together..! For £15 its not worth splitting them..

Yes there is a small dent within the larger one, but I think it's probably part of the same attempt to make the chainring fit.

You're right, it's more the hassle and expense of changing them back so I reasoned it was worth seeing if anyone wanted to buy that combination first.

  • Dooooode... Just buy the tools, it's an investment, you'll always need them. Get a wall which you can put nails in, hang the tools up and draw round them, Bessie dad wall.

  • That's true, but headset tools are pretty dear for the number of times I'm likely to use them.

  • PM sent regarding BB

  • is the bottom bracket english thread?

  • BB threading on the frame is English

  • Keep the frame and forks together... Buy a headset spanner, you'll always need one...

  • is the bb still available?

  • Creation Iration has first dibs on BB, then Killeng and Wingedangel.

I have a headset spanner, but that won't help me remove the fork crown race.

  • Races, especially on old bikes, are not too hard to get off... use an old axle/screwdriver/anything with an edge and just wack it off! A bit cowboy but wont do any damage if you are careful...

  • I'm going to swap the forks over at the weekend

  • I'm going to swap the forks over at the weekend

    ^why? those ones are sweet...pm'd

  • Love them DIY/cowboy approach :) Still do it with cheaper headsets but still the LBS for a better set. I remember looking at the Ultra thin DA fork crown race, wasnt gonna risk it with a mallet and screwdriver/wedge.
