**This Sunday (10th) at about 4pm, 'The Nitty Gritty' in The Constitution, Camden NW1 (go to the canal and head towards Kings X, it backs right onto the canal) - an afternoon of Modbeat, Girl Group Sounds and sweet, sweet Northern Soul. Who's join?

just come out of 'Soul Boy'
good romance story, nice touches on that
the sections that dealt directly with the Casino were a bit overplayed-
but there is some great footage of the dance, about 2 and half minutes actuallly to be honestly realistically perfectly truthful.
anyway,
go and see it its not the devils work,
the lead girls are lovely,
and there are some heart warming people on during the credits,
peace
keep the faith
and all that -

well seeing as you ask, I had a strong desire to dance when Tainted love came belting out in all its lo fi bass driven glory, but,
it was carpeted, so I just had another sip of my coke from the bottle and popped another Dexy -

I was on the verge of creating an R&B thread, but I guess it gets lumped in with Northern most of the time anyway.
Can't get enough of this Gino Parks, need one for my box, badly.

while I'm at it, all his Tamla sides I've heard are great, I love Tamla/Motown before the more poppy sound was developed.

While I'm here, I'll pimp out my mix. Done a while ago now, need to do another but my turntable's broken :(

Sonny Harris - The Vibration
http://souldrops.de/ebay/sonnyharris.mp3Another example of the early Motown sound when it was still a bit raw (stick through the record collector blurb at the start)
