The best Sam Smiths pub is The Angel on Bermondsey Wall East. Brilliant views of the riverside and quite comfy. Before the changed the pumps I did always like to ask for a pint of "man in a blue box".
Captain Kidd on the other side of the river, virtually opposite, in wapping is good too

Ye Old Chesire Cheese is Sam Smiths and a pretty interesting old pub.
Another good one ... arguably even better is The Cittie of Yorke, 6 minutes walk away next to Chancery Lane tube - even longer an deeper cellars plus another incredible old world bar upstairs

Also, what is a "civil ervant"?
The guy who clearly has no idea how to spell 'Samuel' highlights an obvious typo...
FFS...

Ha! You're the one complaining about hangovers after drinking in SS pubs.
"Finer taste than some" fail.

Not sure I've been there. I only went to the other one as something else had fallen through and me and the missus had time to kill so we explored Fleet St pubs :)

How do you actually get access to this civil service bar? Do you have cards to show or something?

The Crown is my favorite Samuel Smith pub. On New Oxford St, say if you're going West from Theobald's/Bloomsbury Sq, It's on that triangle of pavement thats next to the bit coming up from Shaftesbury Ave. Does any of that make sense?

Bump. Joined GDS in November and got made permanent this month. Anyone else's department being moved this year? We're leaving the frankly awful Aviation House (above Holborn Sainsbury's) and moving to the Whitechapel Building in Aldgate this summer. Ex-RBS building if I'm not mistaken.
Sam Smiths are good for getting drunk on the cheap. Used to spend LOTS of time in them but can thankfully scrape enough cash together to avoid them on the whole these days.
Although i do remember some awesome nights in the bricklayers arms, tempted to go back for old times sake now.
