  • thursday from 5/6...sunday sometimes.

  • cool well if its not shitting down tomorrow ill pop along, its been a while!

  • Only just discovered this here Bike Polo. Looks like a right laugh! I'd be up for getting involved if you don't mind a novice tagging along. Don't live in town so will have to ride/drive in. I've got the bike (diy hybridy...thing) but don't have a mallet. Cool to borrow one to start with, or should I try and make one before I turn up?

  • Borrowing a mallet is fine and novices are always welcome. the only problem atm is the weather. It would be a shame for you to ride in to a waterlogged and empty pitch. fingers crossed for sun this thursday, I'm overdue a good game.

  • If its not rainy i seriously recommend checking out the station car park, was there the other day and its lit all night. It wont be too busy 8pm on a thursday and we can play in the far corner. Boards arent an issue if its just one side, we can just have ball boys/girls that can go fetch it :)

  • Shall we play as normal at Preston Park and then all cycle up there when it gets dark? I don't want people turning up to an empty court at PP!

  • Was going to suggest that very thing. I might be in London so if its dark when I get back I'll go straight to the Car Park

  • I can't make this week. Got too work late Thursday so I can go to a wedding in Spain on Friday. Away all weekend. Will try to get to at least one next week. I'll keep checking into here now. I'm out in Telscombe Village so don't really want to ride all the way in only to find nobody else is turning up.

  • Hey Brighton, so the LHBPA has had a re-vamp and one of our projects this year is to set gears in motion towards a UK association. What's the status with you guys and how do you feel about the idea of a UK association?

    Cheers.

(Manchester are up for a discussion at the BFF if anyone from Brighton's coming?)

  • I'm down for Thursday too. I'm also a novice so I may have to borrow stuff but I'm more than happy just to watch for the first time.

  • Owlix & Captainkaos - Please do come along on either Thurs or Sun, we are a very welcoming lot and it would be awesome to have new players :) Watch the board here as I will usually put a "yay or nay" type post up 1hr or so before starting out.

JonoMarshall - We are a pretty loose group (calm down) at the moment and we often struggle for 6 to play a game. I have heard that polo pretty much died over the 09/10 winter here due to lack of venue but the boys and I are making our darn'dest attempt to keep it alive this year. Thermals and mittens will be donned before long I expect. We fielded one team at the open, you must have seen us get mullered ;) but there was a great atmosphere and it spurred us on. We will be putting in a showing at BFF and would welcome any forum to discuss the advancement of a national association.

    We love polo we do!

  • Dear Polo Peeps

I feel I must apologise for my fucking appauling turn out at Brighton polo in the last month, I promise to come down on Thursday to make up for this.

    See you then BIATCHES.

    Nick

  • Never fear Nicholas, your career is at least as important as polo.

It's dry today, anyone feel like a knockabout?

  • YES! what time?

  • Alright calling Wednesday session. 5pm Preston Park. You know the score: 5 - 0!

  • i know it a long shot but dose anyone have a chain whip and a lock ring tool i could use tomorrow?

  • Sprocket installation? I can bring tools for that.

  • I'm not sure how we'll top last night's spur-of-the-moment epic session. One thing that will help is everyone please bringing the mallets along with them as our mad dash away from the carpark last night left them in various hands.

The ability to play a game is directly related to how many mallets we have, capeche?

  • Anyone got any mallet making materials? How about a mallet making session next tuesday instead of normal drinks?

  • SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT

    Sorry not gonna make it.

  • Two good sessions in a week with good attendance, I'm liking it! Can we do the triple and get a good Sunday in?

  • what time will you be at cranks tomorrow making mallets? I'll try to find some gas pipe tonight.

  • hey brighton polo im down in Brighton for the weekend and would love to get some polo in while im here but im on my carbon road bike so would need to borow a bike. Would that be possible? im assuming its sunday that you play....

    Ben (ex manchester polo)

  • Hi Ben,

Please do come along on Sunday from 2pm. The courts in Preston park are where we play.

    Google Map

There should be enough bikes and mallets to go round, a wee bit of sharing never hurt anyone :)

  • The fleeing from the station car park was a little strange I thought!!!! Me an steve checked out Churchill square, all be it not for long.....looked like a no-bust. As for spare bike's we've got 2 at Cranks..more than happy to lend them out :)
