    DFP ~ And period correct!

Id change the cranks on it too, just for aesthetics sake.

Thanks, I am thinking of doing both.

and searching now for a hub any ideas where ?

  • I am thinking of these cranks

    Weren't you going for aesthetics?

  • sorry

  • What exactly is this thread about?

  • i know but I like those

You are both right it should be something more like old school suginos

  • What exactly is this thread about?

    this

  • Ok to prove it now has pedals. Started taking the labels off the rims but couldn't be bothered. Someday will line up the valves and labels. If you have an easy way to remove the labels from the rims I am all ears

I use nail polish remover which, despite comprising my masculinity when i go out to Boots to buy the stuff, is a common source of acetone which will desolve the glue off the stickers. Use it to take off all your decals. Its smashing!

Its also great at getting rid of maker pen graffiti.

    Hope that is useful

  • this

    ^this.

  • Resume current projects then.

    I have one.

    Thanks M.

  • Nice colour. Where did you get that painted?

Just the color i had when i boguet the frameset

  • and searching now for a hub any ideas where ?

Sturmey Archer just released a two speed kickback coaster hubs, it's suppose to be pretty good, just ordered mine not long ago.

The other are the Shimano one, you can get those from SJS or other decent reseller.

  • I'm in the early stages of building a Bianchi Caurus with Columbus Max tubing. Having problems with the bottom bracket but I should be able to resolve that. I have most the parts that I require. I just trying to decide whether to respray or leave as is.

  • Lovely colour. Cant go wrong with flouro pink.

  • Leave it as it is, look unique, otherwise it'll look homogeneous with a typical powdercoated paint.

Old paintjob are a lots more durable than modern one (due to health and safety).

  • I'm in the ear.....just trying to decide whether to respray or leave as is.

I know I always say this, but def keep that colour! Give it a really good clean and then rub down with T-Cut (lots). After that buff and wax. You'll be amazed at the differ ce

Also if you respray don't powder oat. I'm stripppin a frame at the moment and I'm now going back on everything positive I've ever said about PC...it sucks :(

That it's hard to strip is an indication of good coating adhesion, surely one of the positives?

  • Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna leave well alone.

  • Need to put the pedals on still, but finally finished building this up (by myself, go me!). Quite pleased with the final weight too (7.2kg), give the budget(ish) alloy parts.

    That would be 8.2 in a man's size :-)

Which ProLite frame? Is that the Apex group?

Ha, the fit will be tricky to dial in I think, needed to go for a tiny size to get the short top tube, but the teeny headtube means loads of spacers to match the acres of seatpost I need for my legs.

Its a Cuneo with Rival, Braccianos and Ritchey WCS, all bought over time in the sales to meet the budget.

  • looks fun! coaster breaker would be even more fun!

Does anyone honestly think a coaster brake would be better than an actual back brake?
I've ridden plenty of bikes with coaster brakes and its horrible. You're limited to a shite selection of hubs and you can't backpedal to level your pedals when you have to stop at lights and stuff. Plus the engagement and power of them isn't great.

  • My made in Birmingham Hercules. Got it powder coated (ral 7012). Flipped the handlebars around. Changed the stem. Put an old lycett saddle on and a shiny new cottered crankset. Finally I polished some of the chrome up like the fork crown cap. Not sure how old it is. It kind of looks like an old path racer now.
