Sorry, I was hoping that it would end up as a link... or a massive poster... or in 3D or something other then a postage stamp! This is actually my first ever attempt at building a fixie. It's N3lsons frame that was 'spearmint', pictured somewhere previously in this very thread. Having never ridden fixed before, it's very much going to mature into an extension of me. I have the important things set. Frame, wheels, and brooks saddle... the rest is open to the whims of my desires. At the moment, i'm going very vintage stylee.

No way! is that the second respray then? Good to see frames being passed on from genera... er, person to person. I forgot what the original paintjob looked like. -

I don't think n3lson took any pictures of the 'original' paint work. It's a Gitane frame c. 1960's. So original paintwork may have long gone. Do love to have a history of frames though, wonder where I can get it from... In the words of Charlie Croker... "hang on lads; I've got a great idea..."

My '09 Day One with drops. Posted so Pistaboy can see if he fancies doing the same to his.
Bars are 31.8mm so I got a short(ish) stem off a Genesis MTB from one of the OYB guys. -

Really appreciate that Void. Looks good. Reckon I'll set mine up fixed with the front brake. Nice bar tape skills my man.

So here it is my first non mountain bike and purchased off the eBay for Polo
A 1980ish (I think) Raleigh Phantom 10 speed Steelie.As I bought it:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5172519&l=1636cb0a9b&id=504393738it's not great, it's not perfect, but it's a start.
plan on softing the bars and brakes as I found out tonight they're grossly inappropriate for polo :) -

good start. it's freewheel which definitely helps!
what bits do you need? i may have some stuff i can swing your way. you mentioned flat bars?
-
• #196
Hey Dan, I think i've got all I need as i'm going to rape an old halford special I had as a kid.
Possibly buying some decent wheels and tyres for forty squiddlies
I mainly need to ride it and get used to it in general as it's a whole other world to my Marin Northside Trail. Looking forward to next week, my ski poles have turned up so all I need now is some tube :) -
• #197
good work - wheels are the biggest thing. so much potential for breakage.
i've got some black pipe you can have for free - i'll try to remember to bring a few heads next week.

My Main steed: 2009 Marin Northside Trail with upgraded forks to Fox Float 32s. love it. (note to self need to take photo of bike as it is now..this is about a year old in Llandegla, Wales.
My Raleigh Phantom (circa 1980?) purchased off the eBay for some Polo abuse, it weighs more than my Marin.
This is my other toy for when i'm feeling rich (fuel) and lazy

A length of pipe would be good, i've got all the tools to drill and (mmm circular saw) cut up mallet heads. I've also got some aluminum tube I'm willing to slice in half and make two spare mallets out of if you've got enough tube for 4 mallets?

i'm not sure how much stuff i've got, but it's pre-cut into 6" bits. i think they have holes for the shaft too. it's nice and light, but not as durable as the yellow stuff.
its an fsa vero triple crank i got reduced a couple of years ago with an old tioga bmx chainring. looking to get a nice singlespeed specific set soon. need to get some cash though first....
