Thanks Niall, I definitely wouldn't have known what it was called if you hadn't told me.
Although Bikefix this morning didn't really seem to know what it was either, although we eventually established they don't have any.

What kind of oil do you use? The internetz don't seem to agree on what kind to use, some people say oil with detergent, some say without, although 30W motor oil seems to come up a lot first.

Should I flush it out with WD40 or something first or would that be a bad idea?

I note that they sell the 1 inch fulcrum clip with one included, but your clip is ok
These appear to be the same part that goes on the small fulcrum clip on the rear stays of more recent models, so you could probably nab one from an abandoned bike somewhere.
