Digging up good quality research is hard work. So Im not doing it. But there seems to be heaps of stuff suggesting that the cells in the foreskin are particularly prone to infections, and also minor tears in which those infections can enter.
I have never heard of anyone having impaired nob function because a little skin was removed. I certainly do not miss mine.
The appearance thing is a matter of preference of course, typical folklore suggests most people like the chopped sort better.
I had mine done when I was pretty old and it wasnt too bad in terms of pain. It wouldve been loads better if it had been done when I was a baby though, when you cant even remember it.
