For Sale: Screen-prints... Graphic Design.

Posted on
  • I produced these prints for my final year studying Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Art. Now I'm a graduate I'm faced with masses of debt and realise I should start trying to sell the work I produced.

These are 2 colour hand pulled screen-prints, A0+ in size on 275gsm Go Silk Board. These images were created by deconstructing photographs I took in the With Associates studio (if you don't know With Associates, they're responsible for It's Nice That (if you don't know It's Nice That, then shame on you! look it up now)).

    £100 each or
£250 for the set of three
10% of sells through the forum will donated to the forum.
There are only 5 of each print. All are numbered and signed.

Pick up from South London is ideal though I am happy meet anywhere in London. I still need to find out the cost of posting as the prints are so large that just the poster tube to fit one is £15 excluding the postage itself. I will find this out as soon as I'm home on Friday if anyone is interested?

You can check my blog to read more about my process on this work or feel free to ask.

    Enjoy.

  • very nice but a bit on the pricey side ! have you tried the banksy forum ?

  • VERY pricey.

  • nonesensenotneeded

  • Yeah... I reckon these are a little expensive but I like the designs.

Reminds me of the work Saul Bass did for North By Northwest.

  • I don't think thats pricey at all, A1 limited edition screen prints go for about £100 (example http://www.paper-scissor-stone.co.uk/Art/All-Prints/Its-Not-That-Grim-Up-Norff-A1/?MID=50&CID=36)
Then again if you're skint and need the money......

  • Very expensive for an unnamed, 2 pull job fella - I don't believe in underselling yourself but that's more than a tad optimistic

  • I understand what you guys are saying about price... but I'm not making a mad profit on these its a case of making the money back that I spent on producing them. As this was my final project everything was finished to a professional standard. Firstly the paper stock was the most expensive as its silk blend and is a pearl finish. Secondly the inks I had made rather than mixing them myself, they are pantone colour matched... the light green is a matt finish and the dark a gloss as I wanted the inks and paper to play with the light. Lastly the sheer size of the print made registering and general production a lot harder then a smaller print of many colour layers.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • sorry to piss on your chips, but prices are a bit steep

you can get acknowledged artists limited edition prints for not much more.

That said, it's very nice work

    (edit: bit late)

  • Your gonna be getting at least £1250 on these, youve GOT to be making mad profit.
Registering looks far from tricky as its two colour and uncomplicated, even at A0 it cant have been hard.

That said, I like them too.

  • they cost £1175 to produce. As my final project I also had to cost it
like I said it's more of a case wanting to make my money back... And some money for the effort made.

  • Whoa! Didnt realise they cost you that much to make.
    £100 makes more sense now.

  • yes sir! I didn't think that at the time either. It was a case of my idea was bigger than my budget but it paid off... Well I now have a degree.

  • is that for material and printing?

just curious about pricing, not trying to get at ya

  • i like em and would maybe consider buying for £50 each but as said above , too pricey . i invested a lot in my studio too but i cannot charge you for it as it would make everything £15,000 just to pay for my effort/investment .......dont really work like that . i bought a bloody banksy for £300 (it is shit mind) . however they are very nice and good luck !

  • sorry i did a bit of stalking... this is very nice.

  • That's materials, making of artwork positives and negs, hire of screens and printing bed and delivery costs of materials. No man hours included

  • Didnt you print them at Camberwell?

  • @ jjkim83: Ha, thanks man. That's a really loose idea that I'm working on. I'll update the latest improvements when back home.

@ sorethoart: no not these prints... the final weeks at Camberwell was made hectic and only one bed at Camberwell is big enough for this paper/print size and was booked up in advanced.

  • I think the prices are more than fair, especially as you should always sell at a minimum of covering your costs.

The only problem is that you are selling them on a bicycle forum, where the value is reduced by the generally cheap prices of things advertised in the classifieds. People are used to getting a bargain on here, so that's why they feel overpriced.

Put them in a gallery or art context and the value goes up.

  • ^ true

but also, just cause you spent x producing them doesn't mean you can expect to sell for x*1.5

  • to us ....the general public at large , we got to bail out the student debt whilst you go to new york

  • You need to put more work into these, or it's a waste of money if I can put it so baldly. Frame them, get a high quality print of the photo you worked from, add some limited ed sketches for this project sell them for £150 and them it makes more sense.

I sincerely hope you get your money back but you need a different approach to how to sell these.

They don't seem very attractive as they stand sorry to say. Maybe I need to hear the full idea and development behind the project to be intrigued, but you will not be able to do that to every person

  • I'm doing an internship in New York... I'm just on holiday and hoping you'll pick up the slack. As said before the sale of these is just to get back some of the money invested in the prints. Any money made, if made would no way clear the £26,000 debt going to university has created.

Once again guys thanks for all the advice. I am trying to sell my prints via other avenues as well. thought it couldn't hurt putting them on here too as I like checking out other forum members art and photographs. There is a whole gang of creative's on here.

  • nu yoik - fair play ! have fun .........thank fuck i went to varsity in scotland it was free :)
