Adobe Bridge cs5 for free.

  • I was thinking about updating my Photoshop from cs3 to cs5 so downloaded the free trial with which you get Photoshop cs5 and Bridge cs5.
Content aware fill turned out to not be all that great plus there was a few things I actually prefer about cs3 so I decided not to bother with the upgrade.
However I noticed that if I opened Photoshop cs5 then an Adobe software manager (might have been called something else) window opened and asked me if I wanted to enter a serial number or continue using as a trial but if I opened just Bridge cs5 this didn't happen.
I have now deleted Photoshop cs5 off my machine and left Bridge there and it seems to be running ok.
Seems I got the upgrade on Bridge for free and it has a few features that Bridge cs3 doesn't.

  • Meh, I was a bit long winded about it but I quite liked getting it for free so thought others might too.

  • I downloaded the trial of CS5 ages ago and learned that if you never ever shut down the program then the trial never runs out (since it does its checks on startup).

I haven't rebooted my MBP in about six months and am now living in mortal fear of powercuts.

  • ^ haha

I don't know if they're that fussy with bridge? It's more support to the other apps than a standalone thing, so no point making an effort with anti-piracy things?

Does it play nicely with cs3 though?

  • @bothwell, there are ways of avoiding the issue. Some casual googling will solve your problem

Yeah seems to work with cs3 alright.
It's not a massively valuable bit of software or anything but nice to get it legally and not have to pay for it.
I'm sure if you just wanted to buy Bridge from Adobe they'd charge you something for it.

  • I have been using CS5 since it came out, content aware filter is a life saver if you learn how to use it. Its not as good as they made out but my god its close

  • @bothwell, so your telling me, you have not shut down in 6months- talk about a waste of energy!!!

    like someone mentioned, google it.

Well it gets put into sleep mode when it's not being used so it's not like I'm running a coal-processing plant that provides electricity for BAT executives to electro-shock their tiny children workers for not rolling cigars fast enough. Any spare processor cycles get donated to Folding@home so it's for the betterment of the planet that it gets left on anyway.

Will probably end up buying the bloody thing at some point. In the meantime, I am comfortable sticking with my never-ending trial ;)
