I happened to be there when digs and oosedat were waiting for the police to arrive. It was on my way home and sounded exciting. Since there seems to be some appetite for details I will fill in what I can, although a nodder started talking to me and I got distracted...
So I arrived outside St. Ockwell station where there were two young gents who could only have been aforementioned fixxie skiddun lurkers. There was also some old geezer who was also rather excited although I think he was an extra more than anything...
Who knows how ooseddat saw that bike. Although it's outside the station the bikes aren't well lit and you would have to have been looking to see it. And make the mental connection with the stolen bikes thread. I don't know how he saw it. Mad eyesight skillz.
I can't quite remember how the bike was originally locked (Digs had things in hand by the time I'd got there) but they'd slipped on another, and I think it only had one flimsy lock on it at the time. The police had alreaddy been called, and DIgs had receipt in hand...I'd printed the picture off the forum although I doubt that would have been good for very much.
So after 5-10 minutes the police rocked up, looking somewhat bored at being called out for such a 'petty' incident. This was when I got distracted so the details I have here are thin...but they cut the lock without too much fuss and went on their way. Not sure what happened in terms of official reports etc., but cue a beaming DIgs86, reunited with his steed, a lucky lad...
