They had a stand @mcr velo jumble and the paint and finish on the exhibit bikes make me weak at the knees. If your frame is very special to you then worth it.

I just picked up a Cinelli Supercorsa that is in need of some serious love, but £350 worth of it?

Carefully read the last sentence of my last post again. Only you can answer that!

They did a full respray of a Pinarello of mine a few years back and did a superb job, I'd definitely use them again and have no hesitation in recommending them.
As to the price, only you can decide if the frame is worth it.

I recently got back my 50s Claud Butler following respray, chrome lugs and transfers (with touch-up paint for when I scratch it) - although I say it myself, it's absolutely stunning and worth every penny.
I agree your last point but, hey, bikes are for riding!
Let me know if you would like to see it - currently featuring the pedals I bought off you.

HA! nice.
I might have to hit you up on checking out The Butler. We'll see, maybe if I can work myself up to sell that stem. :) -

Just emailed these for a quote for some work on a slightly less special frame (77 CB Majestic) - wonder if it'll be as pricey... glad to hear it's a quality job if I do plump for them though.

This sort of stuff, just like doing up cars. Is not about value. Its a sinkhole of money you will not see back. But if you want to do it, do it.

£200 for paint job plus decals. Ouch. That's a sinkhole i can't afford. Maybe would go for it on a valuable vintage frame.

I've just sent Neill my Samson.. will report back on my experiencies.

Flawless paintwork.. exceptional quality.
My 15 year old Samson looks like new, i guess i'm going to have to really clean up the rest of its componenets now so it doesn't look silly.

Dredge.
I'm trying to decide between Atlantic B and Argos to refinish my 1952 Gillott Connoisseur. It's a very rare frame and beautiful with spear point lugs with windows. Mark Stevens who has a bizillion Gillotts and is the 'Marque Enthusiast' got very excited about it when I first got it.
At the moment it's in original paint but it had to have a new top tube which I got replaced by Barry Witcomb years ago in Drptford, I've been collecting correct NOS parts for it for years so its a labour of love and although I can't afford to haemorrhage money on it I want the best resto available (good luck with that right?)
The frame has lovely double box lining in green on a plain white frame minimal lug lining (just the windows and is classy and understated, especially by 50s standards.
The box lining is the key it's got to have that quick sure handed but hand done look that a Jack Taylor's lining has, not perfect masked off pinstriping.
Zen master stuff.
Any one have any box lining experience from either place or care to recommend anywhere else?
Or know of an old boy who does proper box lining? -

I know Argos will do it brilliantly, Atlantic B is also go but have little knowledge about them.

I recall a Jack Taylor being restore by them, and knowing a JT it tend to have those box lining.

Thanks Ed, so that Jack Taylor ^was refinished by Atlantic B?
Anyone else got box lining intel?

By Argos, give them a call?

Not that they need a plug, but c and g finishers of Liverpool have done my pinarello in candy apple red and did more than I asked, but cleaning the chrome and touching up the panto areas on the frame. In my view a1 workmanship and much cheaper than Argos and AB

I've rebuilt a couple of Jack Taylor tandems for a customer, Argos have done both paintjobs and done wonderful hand-painted double box lining on each.

That's what I wanted to hear.
Got to start saving/liquidating funds.Talking of Jack Taylor I just watched Bike Brothers today while Internet trawling for box lining restoration infos. Made me smile. I'd love a Jack Taylor.

Me too, if they still exist, I'd have gone straight to them, they really do know their stuff.
I was thinking of sending my f/f to Atlantic Boulevard to get it refurbished. For chrome lugs, paint, transfers and shipping they are looking for £350.
Word has it they are really good at what they do, but is it worth the money? Has anyone had work done here? And I guess the other question is, will I actually ever ride the bike with a finish that nice on it?
