• Although my gf can cycle she is not a driver and not even British (a country of long straight roads - no not Rome). We got a second bike and she became quite keen for us to go out for rides but i was a little nervous because of her lack of experience. So I suggested some training - i had even done some quite recently and was very positive as to the benefits for anyone but she was not interested. She just wanted us to go out together, so we did and she made me cycle in front which I can see for her is beneficial but for me! I spent half the time trying to negotiate traffic and then instantly looking back to see how she was doing - she was fine i was the one nearly getting killed. We have been out about three times but pretty long sessions, 5-7hrs lots of stops and taking her to interesting places that i know she would like to see (LMNH - obviously she wants to go there she just didn't exactly say so). She has improved a lot, she gets beeped because i encourage her to hold her space and she's not yet getting away from the lights that quick and obviously drivers default to the attitude of devine right over the highway! This then means i go from flash to bang in less than a nanosecond and threaten all n sundry but we're getting there, slowly which is fine for us both. she is still not happy about going out by herself and we live in Wandsworth close to the awful one way system so not many choices. I have not given up on getting some training but i'm too scarred to suggest at the mo in case she takes it as criticism! Are there any female instructors on here?
Oh and we had an issue with the saddle but I didn't rush out to replace it (lazy- no other reason) she now says she is used to it...
