  • If it gets dirty on a ride it's easier to wash down carbon and not have to be to fussed about leaving it damp where as ali is a pain and not very good with road salt and other shit on the roads.

    the ali is painted on 99.9% of bikes and clear coated on the other 0.1 % so water and road salt are not an issue. It would only be an issue for someone who stripped their frame and then left it but that would corrode just in the air anyway.
    I muc off and wash down my ali bike every weekend and it is no problem at all, a perfect winter bike material.

    My steel bikes however used to bleed rust when I pulled up the front wheel or turned them upside down!
