There are a few forgotten gems that go for nothing these days. The Arcam Alpha II is a great amp with a superb phono stage, and I've got a Pioneer A300-R Precision, which is a model that got shipped to the UK, then a proper Amp guru called Tom Evans removed all the crappy components and replaced them with top-grade stuff. I think there were 3 levels of upgrade. It's great with vinyl.
