very glad to hear this ended well, and kudos to all the riders who stopped to help out!
so... i ride OKR pretty much 4 or 5 times a week. all the way from new x to bricklayer's arms from where I head central via great dover st/marshalsea road/southwark st/blackfriars.
there are loads of other cyclists using the road too - and many forumengers it seems. it is by far the most dangerous part of my commute/route into town, especially the stretch heading south between tesco and ilderton road (the bulk of the road)... the worst part is motorbikes doing upwards of 35-40mph down the bus lane in the rush hour, plus the surface is absolutely shite in the 2-3 metre space next to the kerb for pretty much the whole road until you get to that bit that has just been relaid (when it turns into new cross road).
is there something simple that could be done to make it safer? some kind of critical mass-lite to time people's ride back SE? or is there a good bypass route that doesn't add too much time to the journey? it should be publicised if so! which back roads are best?!
