Park Street Cycle Park, home of Bicycle Ambulance – although seriously you can park it anywhere if you invest in a decent lock.

Looks good, cheers. They managed to get through a cable (no surprise) and a D-lock. Was quite old though. Oh well, new locks for the new build!!

bikes get stolen from there too ;)
best bet is to have TWO D-LOCKS of good quality i.e. kryptonite.
you should spend at least 10% of the cost of your bike on a lock i.e. £600 bike and £60 on locks.
this
+
+the thiefs job very hard and in most cases he won't even bother.
can be bought all together for roughly £60 on the net.

Dude, it's either two D–Locks (London) or a D–Lock and a Cable (Everywhere Else)... All the above is totally overkill. I've never seen you carry three locks... hell, you don't even have brakes.

. I had stupidly left it in a dark bit opposite Trinity College whilst the fair was in town (police tip off not my prejudice) ;)
So let me get this straight , the old bill blamed you for getting you bike nicked by parking your locked bicycle in a dark place opposite one of the most prestigious (and richest)colleges in Cambridge when there was a fun fair within a mile radius.
Maybe they should ban funfairs if they give them so much work , if they actually gave a flying fuck about bike thefts.

Sorry, must have given the wrong Impression with that one. I meant to say they mentioned the fair and said it was more than a coincidence that the friendly travellers were in town while they had a busy weekend with thefts. Not trying to provoke a argument, but I tend to agree.
The police were actualy more than helpful, checked the CCTV in the area as they could tell how hacked off I was!

No argument , just typical lazy plod . I do wonder if CCTV in Cambridge has ever been instrumental in catching a bike thief ever. Every time they seem to draw a blank . We were told it would reduce crime when they decided to stick cameras everywhere . They just seem to use it to monitor fights outside the burger van and pissed totty falling out of the Regal .

agreed. There happened to be a camera directly above my bike, facing the wrong way.. not sure if they would have spotted it even if they had walked right in front of one!
hi all, recently had my fixie stolen whilst out in the evening in Cambridge. I had stupidly left it in a dark bit opposite Trinity College whilst the fair was in town (police tip off not my prejudice) ;)
Anyone know of good places that are more secure to park bikes in the evening when Grand Arcade is shut?
