    sure, i get that. i do this myself - i run a boardman frame for my road bike becuase i feel that a carbon frame is a semi-disposable item and a boardman frame will last me as long as a colnago. not precious about them as i might be with an old steel frame. zero kudos riding a boardman but who gives a shit if it does the job well.

    i do prioritise comfort on the bike though, after 90 miles at a decent pace you hurt. wearing bibshortts that prevent my ass turning to mincemeat and a jersey the wicks efficiently and fits well is something i'll pay for, whether it be via rapha, assos or whoever.
