    CLAUD BUTLER TANDEM FRAME c1939
Seat Tube (ctt): 21in (53cm) front and rear
    Top Tube (ctc): front 22in (56cm), rear 22.5in (57cm)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm

    Bottom bracket threads: British tandem
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
    Seatpost size: 26.8mm
This is a rather nice lugged curved seat tube Claud Butler tandem from I think c1939 - its in very sound condition with no problems and comes complete with Chater-:Lea bottom brackets front and rear. It would have origijnally had 26 x 1 1/4in wheels with a drum brake at the rear and probably Resilion Cantilever brakes on the front. £145

    RICHARDS ROAD FRAME Reynolds 531
    Seat Tube (ctt): 53cm (21in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 52.5cm (20.75in)
    Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 700C (brake drop 50mm)
    Frame tubing: Reynolds 531
    Seatpost size: 27.0mm
This is a very sound Richards road frame ripe for conversion - Richards is (was?) one of Birmingham’s largest cycle shops. It features Prugnat single point lugs with a Cinelli style sloping fork crown. The paint is quite marked but I think is certainly useable. £69

    AENDE LO-PRO FRAME c1987
    Seat Tube (ctt) : 56cm (22in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
    Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C front and rear (brake drop of approx 45mm)
    Bottom bracket threads: English
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Aende frames were built by Pop Braithwaite near Nottingham - he specialized in TT frames - this one is slightly later than the TT frame I posted on Friday. Unusually for a lo-pro it takes 700C wheels front and rear making wheel choice much easier. £145

    RALEIGH COMPETITION ROAD FRAME 1984/5
    Seat Tube (ctt): 55cm (21.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C (Brake drop 45mm)
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
    Frame tubing: Reynolds 531C
This is a very nice Raleigh road frame built from Reynolds 531C tubing. It was built in 1984 according to the frame number and then finished off in 1985 - the paint colour and finish and Reynolds 50th anniversary decal are all 1985. I suspect that this frame was probabnly one of a batch of Team Replica frames that were left over and then finished off as 1985 Competitions - Competitions normally used the slightly cheaper Gipiemme rear dropouts, this one like the Team Replicas has the Campagnolo rear dropouts. It is in very good condition with a number of marks to the paintwork and the the chrome on the forks is not perfect. This frame is is really nicely built with crisp shorelines to the lugs and will ride very nicely - Raleigh really had the geometry of these frames dialled-in well. The long horizontal dropouts mean that it will make an easy conversion to singlespeed or fixed. £165

    MBK PRO NEW OLD STOCK
Seat Tube (ctc): 54cm (56.5cm ctt)
    Top Tube (ctc): 22.25in (56.5cm)
    Rear dropout width: 130mm
Front Brake drop with 700C wheel: 46mm
    Seatpost size: 27.0mm
    Wheel size: 700C
This is a rather nice NOS MBK frame from the early 1990s built from Vitus tubing which is ovalised at the bottom bracket. The top tube takes the rear brake cable in a slot along the length of the top tube's underside – very neat and cool. The semi-vertical dropouts should mean that a fixed or single-speed conversion should not be too difficult. £79

    ALLIN ROAD FRAME c1963
    Seat Tube (ctt): 58cm (23in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 57.5cm (22.75in)
    Rear dropout width: 120mm
    Wheel size:27in or 700C (brake drop 60mm)
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
Allin Cycles were based in Whitehorse road, Croydon for many years, This is a Stan Butler model from around 1963. It is very nicely built but does need repainting. Has horizontal dropouts so will make an easy conversion. £59

    BLACKWELL c1980
    Seat Tube (ctt) : 52cm (20.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 52.5cm (20.75in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 50mm)
    Bottom bracket threads: English
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is a very nicely built frame which appears to have been built for Blackwell cycle shop in Hackney Road. It has recently been repainted and had the top tube brake cable guides removed - the marks left from where these were have not been filled but are not very noticeable. The horizontal dropouts make it ideal as a fixed or singlespeed conversion. £79

CLAUD BUTLER AVANT COUREUR ROAD FRAME c1953
    Seat Tube (ctt): 57cm (22.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
    Rear dropout width: 116mm
Wheel size: 27in or 700C (brake drop 62mm)
Claud Butler’s Avant Coureur model was their top road frame in 1953. This came to me just as a frame but I have managed to find a pair of forks with exactly the correct fork crown. The Avant Coureur featured bilaminated lugs. The Bilaminated form of construction was first introduced by Claud Butler in 1948 on the first version of the Avant Coureur model. Although bilaminated frames look as if they are built with lugs they are in fact fillet brazed. The ‘lug parts’ are sleeves which feature cut outs just like the ends of lugs. These are first brazed onto the end of each tube to be joined. The tubes complete with sleeves are then fillet brazed together. Claud Butler claimed that in tests at the National Physical Laboratory this type of joint proved to be 25% stronger than a conventional lugged joint. It certainly had other advantages too – non standard tube sizes could be built into frames easily and frame angles were not limited by the lug angles available. This frame needs restoring; the top tube has a dent that needs filling and the down tube has had a gear lever boss removed rather badly that also needs filling. But once restored this frame will be really stunning. £85

VENOM ROAD FRAME c1994 Reynolds 531C
    Seat Tube (ctt): 57cm (22.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
    Rear dropout width: 130mm
    Wheel size: 700C
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Brake drop with 700C wheels: 45mm
This is a nicely made road frame from the first half of the 1990s built from Reynolds 531C tubing. The paint is a bit scruffy but built up a lot of the smaller marks won’t be obvious. And with longish horizontal dropouts would make a really easy conversion to singlespeed or fixed. £69

    SCAPIN ROAD FRAME c1980
    Seat Tube (ctc) : 55cm (21.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C (brake drop of approx 46mm)
    Bottom bracket threads: Italian
    Frame tubing: Columbus SL
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This is is a very nicely built and gorgeously detailed road Italian road frame from c1980 with the paint and chrome in generally very good condition. With horizontal dropouts it would make an easy singlespeed or fixed conversion. £165

  • Hi there I'ma noob so apologies if this thread is dead...is the Allin still available? If so could you re-upload the pic so I can take a peek?

  • All are sold in this thread, sorry.

  • Thanks for the quick reply, do you have any suggestions or hints on where to look for Allin frames? I've seen your name mentioned on Bike Forums as someone who may know about this company. My old family home is on St. Saviours Rd - a stones throw from the old Allin premises on Whitehorse Road and I'm looking for a classic frame built in my hometown to restore. I've grown weary of my mountain bike being over taken on the daily commute but don't want a new racer without any soul...it would be pretty cool to ride a bike born in Croydon that's double my age!

  • why cant i see the pictures??
the link doesnt work for me
