  • who's the second dibber then? Is it ok to up prices like that?

  • Cheers everyone groupset SOLD, thanks for looking and dibbing.

  • its worth about 300,- on the bay so somebody got a bargain :)

  • I dunno about the second dibs but the 3rd dibber didn't make any sort of an offer..Just said I'd take it if the others fell through.

I think the spirit of the forum has been soured here, both by the op in raising prices and the 2nd dibber if they (allegedly) offered more by way of pm.

f1reblade09 - you should honour the first person to pm you and your initial price, despite it being fairly cheap. This forum is built on members offering other members good stuff at cheap prices. If you want to make a profit sell your stuff on ebay >>>>>>>

  • I Agree
I've had my fair share of slapped wrists.
    In my opinion,
When you post a new thread then put a price on it and that's it.the seller should know what he wants for it,even though it could be worth a lot more.
1st dibber should contact the seller and agree to the asking price and pay,if not 2nd dibber should get the chance
In that respect.if you expect more for your items, then ebay it as an auction item with a reserve price.
I thought this forum was for bicycling interests

  • boooooooooooo

  • ^ some valid points, but in this occasion its more like sour grapes.

    £95!

FFS if there was so much forum spirit and integrity the first post would have said "I think you're under-pricing those, a more sensible price would be £X".

  • ^I can only go along with that.

  • True - i am not too up on campy prices, but they have got to be worth a fair bit

  • Plenty of people on here sell stuff way below what it's worth, or they sell for what they paid. What I meant by initial price was £125, I never saw the £95. I was 3rd in line so never expected it to get to me, so I don't have sour grapes. It just seems weird that the op has made mini auctions on a couple of for sale threads.

Maybe next time try checking what similar items go for on the bay, or have previously gone for here. This way you can find a balance between getting what you think you deserve whilst still offering good prices. Hopefully when he has had time to process these sales we will see a little star next to his name.

  • +1 to hugo7. Whoever got them (I guess) got them at a bargain. It's not quite the incredible deal that that Colnago frame was for £100 was but still pretty good going no?

  • oof, poor form. :( That's twice he's up'd the price on selling things.
And gazumping definitely isn't right either.
This forum is a fantastic community and everyone should respect that.

+1 to a forum donation from our new forum friend, the OP.

  • A £125 donation should cover it and we can all go back to being friends.

  • I dunno about the second dibs but the 3rd dibber didn't make any sort of an offer..Just said I'd take it if the others fell through.

I have to go with Hugo also...

I see your point....though to be honest he hasn't been here long...

and has put two things up at ridiculously low prices...(his merckx was bloody cheap too)

rather than do the 'gentlemanly' thing...which would obviously honour the forums 'spirit' of goodwill towards all man and beast...

everyone pounced on him and took advantage of the stupidly low prices..

Not one person said ...hang on mate...

those delta brakes have been selling for £200 a pair....no matter the cranks...and the mechs...

    and ...

    and...

How can you even attempt to call into question the 'spirit' of the forum when this guy has just had his bum raped for the sake of a few quid?

  • It could have happened, but all that ^ occurred quite quickly. Maybe someone would have mentioned it?

It is poor form to back out of a stated price because someone has offered more though. Mostly poor form by the second dibser.

  • Farken hell, hold on a second. First off it's is more the guzumping by stuarts that got me wound up, not the fucking prices. Secondly I had no idea he's miss priced it by so much - the last time I looked these brakes were about £150 in mint condition, which these obviously aren't.

  • Hale no, this isn't about prices. If you put something up for sale it doesn't take much to do a quick ebay/google search for a similar item. If you get "bum raped" it's your own fault for not doing the homework. However, cutting in on someone's deal to pinch an item, regardless of price, is not the way to go about things otherwise we're all gonna be paranoid about buying anything.

  • ummmm.. i understand hugo7 point but i must agree with Gav86. eventhrough how rediculious cheap the price is, op is the one who set the price up so i think he should be happy with that price anyway. it is sort of dodgy to do a small auction here. i just love the forum in the way of 'giving' not 'earning'.

  • Yeah it was £95, though the OP changed the price still bargain.

Stop messing around, do the research before you put the price on!

    That's all I can say I guess...

  • Ban this sick filth!!

  • Can somebody please think of the integrity of the forum pricing system?

  • and can somebody please think of the integrity of the dibs system while they're at it.

  • the list system could do with a bit of thinking too; it lacks integrity.

  • (thumbs down)

I would say this was a fair point, especially given I am new to the forum. I don't know the etiquette and just want to sell things for a fair not stupidly low price. On both occasions i realised my naivety fairly quickly and changed the price and told everyone what I had done although it seems I was still too low.

I have been out of cycling for 15 years so have lost touch on value, hence my merckx going for £500, (perhaps I should cancel the sale and re-list?) I have no idea the real value at the moment so yes advice & constructive criticism would be noted, outright criticism will probably be ignored.
