Hmmmmm. I actually unlaced one side of my 29er wheels and replaced the uber light, but all too twisty revolutions, with super comps. After a feck-up on my part, regarding component choices, in a misguided attempt to save weight. So I would'nt trust me that much ;)
The threading on any threaded aluminium part, is about as strong as a medium soft cheese. IMHO as long as you are aware of this, and use something to help the nipples thread on, and take care, you'll be fine. Another problem, is the softness when truing. You can round off the square edge quite easily. I have a well fitting spoke key, and am careful not to start turning untill said key is fully engaged.
