DE ROSA SIGNATURE ROAD BIKE c1989 Shimano Dura-Ace
    Seat Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 53.5cm (21.1in)
    Rear dropout width: 128mm
    Wheelsize: Sprints/700C
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
    Frame tubing: Columbus SLX
In the late 1980s De Rosa did a number of Signature and Replica models - this frame is from one of these series of specials. It is fitted with 8spd Shimano Dura-Ace 7402 groupset. Rolls saddle, Mavic CXP33 rims and 3TTT bars and stem. It is in excellent very lightly used condition - there are virtually no marks on the paint, just one small touched up scratch on the top tube. De Rosas really are rather special and were all built in house (unlike many Italian brands) in not large numbers to a very high standard. £795

    ANDRE BERTIN ROAD FRAME 1970s
    Seat Tube (ctc): 53cm (21in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 54cm (21.25in)
    Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C (brake drop 52mm)
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
    Seatpost size: 26.6mm
This is a really rather lovely Bertin road frame from the 1970s; it has I think been repainted fairly recently in one of their Team colour schemes. The paint is generally excellent with just a few small marks. It comes complete with an excellent Stronglight roller bearing headset. £185

    DAWES DISCOVERY ROAD FRAME 1980s
    Seat Tube (ctt): 23.5in (59cm)
    Top Tube (ctc): 23in (58cm)
    Rear dropout width: 121mm
Wheel size: 27s or 700C with brake drop of 68mm
    Bottom Bracket Threads: English
    Seatpost size: 26.4mm
This Dawes Discovery will make an excellent budget geared or fixed/singlespeed conversion frame. It comes complete with chainset (the inner chainring can be removed), bottom bracket, headset and brake callipers. £55

    GIOS COMPACT ROAD FRAME c1991
    Seat Tube (ctc): 58cm (23in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 56cm (22in)
    Rear dropout width: 126mm
Wheel size: 700C with 48mm brake drop
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
This Gios Compact frame is in excellent condition with very few marks to the paint. It has vertical dropouts but because they have a 5-7mm of adjustment horizontally could be used with care and careful selection of chainwheel/rear sprocket sizes with a fixed wheel. The headset and BB are included; the headset feels as if it needs servicing and the BB whilst not having any play feels rough. Hence its offered at the bargain price of £195

    VIKING SEVERN VALLEY ROAD FRAME
    Seat Tube (ctt): 22.5in (57cm)
    Top Tube (ctc): 22.5in (57cm)
    Rear dropout width: 120mm
Wheel size: 700C with brake drop of 68mm
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
The Severn Valley was Viking’s top model and was essentially their Team Replica model as raced by the Viking Team in the 50s and 60s. This frame it thought dating from c1958 is in very sound condition. It has been powder coated. It will make an excellent singlespeed or fixed conversion £89

    DON FARRELL ROAD FRAME c1980
    Seat Tube (ctt): 52cm (20.5in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 55cm (21.5in)
    Rear dropout width: 124mm
Wheel size: Sprints/700C with brake drop of 55mm
Frame tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Don Farrell’s main shop was in Edgware, north-west London. They did not build their frames in-house but bought them in from a number of good builders. This frame which dates from around 1980 was built I think by Holdsworth. It is in its original paint - the decals are rather distressed but there. The paint is generally in very good condition. It will make a very easy and cool fixed or singlespeed conversion. £125

TOWNSEND of REDDITCH TT FRAME c1976 Spectacular head tube cutouts
    Seat Tube (ctt): 22.5in (57cm)
    Top Tube (ctc): 22in (56cm)
    Rear dropout width: 122mm
    Wheel size: 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 50mm
Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531 double butted
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
In the 1970s the the time trial fashion gurus followed the likes of Alf Engers who drilled out his components and used frames with odd cutouts in the tubing combined with very short wheelbase and steep frame angles. This frame dates from that time and was originally sold by Townsends of Redditch - they did not make their own frames but commisioned framebuilders to build frames for them - many were special orders. There cannot be many more special than this one - just take a look ay the slots in the head tube - these are cut through the head tube - the yellow you see is just a plastic sleeve inside... The lugs are also drilled and as was common in the 70s very short track style rear facing dropouts with a gear hanger were used so that the rear wheel could be positioned as close as possible to the seat tube... The fork offset is so little that barspins are possible. This is one very special frame that comes complete with black Tange headset. The Stronglight BB can be sold with the frame for an additional £15. This is one really spectacular frame - its possible that it was built by Barry Chick who built Engers’ frames or possibly Dave Russell who built a number of frames in the 70s with slotted head tubes. £225

    COLNAGO ROAD FRAME 1973
    Seat Tube (ctc) : 53cm (21in)
    Top Tube (ctc): 54.5cm (21.4in)
    Rear dropout width: 125mm
Wheel size: Sprints or 700C front and rear (brake drop of approx 50mm)
    Bottom bracket threads: Italian
    Frame Tubing: Columbus SL
Colnagos from the early 1970s are really rather uncommon - this one dates I think from 1973. Its been repainted I think about twenty years ago and little used since then. At the same time it was converted to take allen bolt fixing brakes. Its in very nice condition with just a few marks to the paint and decals. Would make a very cool conversion to fixed or singlespeed. £295

    BRIAN ROURKE ROAD FRAME c1996
    Seat Tube (ctt): 20.5in (52cm)
    Top Tube (ctc): 20.75in (52.5cm)
    Rear dropout width: 130mm
    Wheel size: 700C
Brake drop with 700C/Sprint wheel: 42mm
    Frame Tubing: Reynolds 531C
    Seatpost size: 27.2mm
Brian Rourke framesets were and some I believe are still produced in their own workshop by Paul Washington - this frame features his very distinctive and special wrap over seat stays. And has hardly been used - the kit that was taken off looked as if it had not done 100 miles... The paint is truly excellent with just a couple of small chips. This frame I think dates from the middle/late 1990s. I was very impressed by Paul Washington’s workshop when I visited about 12 years ago and his frames are really rather special. £175
