I'm pretty sure it's supposed to have bullhorns and tribars; I doubt that would save it, but it might look a bit less weird.
For going up steep hills, obviously. The organisers of the Giro and Vuelta have been known to throw in some monster climbs over the years which have had the Pro teams breaking out the triples.
