    I had a previous meniscus injury in the same knee from a few years before, from coming off in the rain. You are right that basically there is a part of the meniscus dangling called a 'flap'. They can either cut it out, meaning you WILL get arthritis in that knee, or if it's in a place with adequate blood supply they can push it back in.

    I am not having anything cut out, I would rather tough it out and let it semi-heal than get arthritis in 20 years time. But there is the chance that it can heal properly with surgery. It all depends on the results of an MRI.

    Also the official opinion is not to put any undue stress on it and let it try to heal, rather than toughing it out. I am gonna give it a chance first, but it has been 7 weeks and it almost certainly would feel better than it does now if it was going to heal.
