Sounds weird, but I've always liked the idea of one of those high tech prosthetic legs. Of course losing a leg would be shit, but those things look awesome...and detachable. My mother tells me (reliably?) that they would hurt like hell.
Glasses have gone from being an intentionally unstyled medical thing to a fashion accessory. Perhaps prosthetics will become styled in the future. Although I'm not sure if they'll ever become a fashion accessory, it'd be nice if people could get a choice of what their prosthetic looked like, rather than just beige plastic. I'd happily walk around with a funky anodised leg. Same with wheelchairs - I saw a kid with a long wheelbase wheelchair which had been styled a bit like a chopper motorcycle (chrome parts, tassles, candy red frame).
And yeah I think prosthetic legs do hurt if they use straps and suction cups to hold them in place. Other ones screw into the bone but I think they're still less common.
