Work on TBR at end of Long Lane. My boss just went past and told me it was a fatality. Unconfirmed though.

a couple of people from my office where there just after it happened and said he was talking, he had a massive head wound though, apparently he was hearing a helmet but it had been completely crushed in the accident.

There's pictures of the truck and more info here:
http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/4794Se1 saying the cyclist was talking when s/he was taken to hospital; no confirmation as to whether it was a fatality. Certainly hope not and fingers crossed for him or her. As they point out, this is very near to a similar incident back in June; http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/4635

if woods_alexis is correct - there's a big problem as people don't realise that artic drivers can't actually see pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road directly in front of them. there was a cyclist fatality at the cycle crossing in front of the british library a couple of years ago where exactly this happened. hope the rider's ok.

I went past a few minutes ago and the lorry is still there, hope whoever was involved is ok. I couldn't understand what the lorry was doing there - coming out of a really quite small street.

At the end of Long Lane there is a building site just after Bermondsey Street could have come from there

This entire set of lights is very complex and difficult to navigate for cycles, I feel.

This is terrible news. GDS is on my everyday route, but I changed it recently so I don't pass that junction anymore.
Heal up!

Geez, what's with all those metal barriers on London's already narrow streets? Looks like it must be a "nice" adrenaline rush when you ride along that with a huge lorry on the other side.
Sure do hope the person is fine!
Rider down on Great Dover Street in Borough, the rider was trapped under a articulated lorry when I went past with the police, ambulance and the fire brigade were trying to free them. Looked as if the rider had gone across a pedestrian crossing infront of the lorry, but thats pure speculation. Hope they pull through.
