the rapha shorts are nice but the pad in them is very annoying.
I prefer the swrve WWR shorts. -

Not so much cycling, but horses: http://www.jodhpurs.co.uk/mens/breeches/index:funnelsearch.html
A fine pair of camel coloured breeches ought to go nicely with tweed, especially if you top them off with a pair of shiny gent's riding boots.

Good grief man, I realise that tweed harkens to a bygone age, but that doesn't justify violence again women.

I can't stand the association of tweed with posh horsey tory bastard.

I reckon you're just jealous because a horse doing a skid looks more rad than any wussy little bicycle ever could.

My grandfather used to wear tweed when riding from Sunderland to Carlisle and back. He wasn't posh, didn't own a horse and would have invited you outside if you called him a tory bastard.

I sit corrected. Still, I associate tweed with the horsey brigade.

My real title is actually Sir ... (I'm a Baronet) not Mr.
You can't stand the way in which the lower classes have adopted it to make themselves feel and appear richer than they actually are.
On behalf of your minions, sorry sir.

Actually planning on riding the Pedal for Scotland on Sunday in tweed - what's it like to ride in?
-
• #20
Pretty good, although it can be quite warm. If the weather isn't going to be above 17oC and your tweed isn't too heavy then you should be fine.
We rode around the hilly Peak District in 20+ and naught more than trousers, shirts and waistcoats and did find it quite warm.
Comfort wise it's pretty damn good.

Walker Slater in Parsons Green will tailor any of the trousers in their shop into a pair of plus fours/twos.

Hmmm...
Is General Lucifer the only working class tweed wearer on this forum?
Or are his stories of factory floor drudgery a mere sham to cover a life of privilege and gluttony?
Is he, in fact, Brigadier General Sir Lucifer Ponsonby-Smythe , the famous high tory bastard and heir to the North's largest milk bottle manufacturers?

Lucifer and Skully are brothers.
Whilst enjoying the myriad pleasures of riding through the Peak District at the weekend, it occured to me that my suit trousers are ill suited to cycling, even with a pair of padded shorts underneath.
What I really need is some stylish, formal quality, britches that also meet the demands of cycling.
I'll continue to scour charity shops and tailors for a set of quality plus fours, but can anyone recommend something more specifically designed for this purpose?
