  • Reminds me of when I was flying into JFK once. We were coming into land and were a hundred feet or so from the runway when the engines bucked and screamed and roared throwing us all back into our seats with considerable G's.

The plane pitched up and climbed at an amazing rate. We levelled. Circled. The captain came over the PA. His voice noticeably shaky. I remember his words verbatim.

"Sorry about that ladies and gents. Traffic control at JFK screwed up a little and we almost landed on another plane. Hold tight and we'll try a second time".

almost identical happened to me at Luton - coming into land and we were feet from touch down before climbing really steeply again suddenly - at which point we heard the pilot over the tannoy 'sorry about that, I didn't like the look of that'...so of course we go around again and we're in a pattern...and I'm thinking 'didn't like the look of what exactly?'...everyone looks spooked....then the steward came over the PA 'sorry about that, there was a sudden micro storm/microburst on the runway'

    Shit me right up
