Access to a machine shop?

Posted on
  • Hey, I'm trying to find someone who has access to a machine shop or crazy engineering skills. I've a little problem with a headtube, and need to make a collar for it to ensure that it'll behave in future....

Does anyone know anyone, or can anyone point me in the direction of someone who may be able to help?

    Cheers.

  • MDCC Tester has previously referred to contacts of his who can machine things.

  • I might be able to hook you up with something, but I'm not in London, so it would probably be best to talk to a local engineering firm first.

  • There's probably a small engineering company near you who will make it if you can draw it. For a simple one-off bush or collar of the size and precision typical of cycle parts and requiring only turning operations, you should expect to hand the man a tenner. Don't expect them to carry stock of exotic materials. I've used or enquired at half a dozen machine shops over the years and never been turned away.

  • Cheers guys. There's a place in Brixton called London Engineering co that sounds worth a shot. So I'll try first. But if anyone has any recommendations for south west london, then gimme a shout.

    Cheers!
