Around the turn of the century racing cyclists began using "helmets" made of strips of leather-covered padding, initially with a ring of leather around the head and a wool ring above that. Then the style evolved and the ring of leather around the head was supplemented by strips of leather arranged longitudinally on the head. When I started racing in the 70's we called them "hairnets" and the nicest ones were made in Italy of beautiful soft leather.
this is a quote from a website, these helmets were mainly used on the track.
they are old school and pretty cool, maybe not the best protection available. Then again they are Tom Ritcheys choice of protection!

Sizes, there are two sizes, i cant see a cm size. There is 8 and 9? im not sure how big this is.

I'm interested but can you guide me on the sizing? i.e. have you worked out for eg if 8 = ?? cm and 9 =??cm if I measure..as I have been lead to believe..around the circumferance of my head..above my ears..I get 55-56ish...how does this size up with what you have there?
