  • sorry chaps, i'll put up one or two more pictures here and if theres enough interest i'll do a classifieds,

    Seatpost

    Headset:

    Stem (31.8 and 25.4):

feel free to drop me a PM to ask about Ti things, or drinking beer, I am knowledgeable on both subjects

  • Paging Mul(Ti)grooves...

  • I see no advantage in Ti stems. I just lust after them, and thats a beaut.

  • If i'm honest I feel no difference between the Ti stem and an alloy, but it is just as stiff as alloy but a lot prettier, a few of the chaps at the club who ride full carbon bikes, with carbon stems and such, ride full Ti in the winter as the compliance to stiffness ratio is very similar to carbon, but is less corrosive in the winter, but for me, it's the prettiness...

  • Aluminium can be used to make a stiffer and lighter stem than Ti. There may be some comfort to be afforded from a Ti stem, but I would'nt know. Plus people pack away their carbon in the winter to aviod damaging it though cycling in poor conditions. As a polymer scientist I can confirm that carbon composites do not rust ;)

    It is the prettiness.

  • Do you have a full picture of the frame? Cant really see what its looks like form the snap shots

  • snapshots are all I have at the moment, however new shots should be through in the next day or so, I may just start a thread seeing as there is interest

  • Arse biscuits. Thanks for answering my off topic question though.

Have you tried Enigma? Sure I read somewhere they would do repairs or adding bits to titanium frames but not 100% sure.

Although a lot of the Ti frames are produced elsewhere (although some are still produced in house I think), they do the finishing in house. Brazing on cable stops etc. So worth getting in contact.

  • Mark Riley, who does most of the in house framebuilding at Enigma, tried to defraud me once. He succeeded in defrauding many others so Enigma can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned.

I've found someone who can do it elsewhere.

  • I'm going to cop these when they drop. What do you all think?

  • Couldn't give a shit, TBH.

  • This weekend I've been mainly dribbling over this frame.....

Bit of a marmite frame looks wise. But if the hype is to be believed, it might just be the balance of performance (might do some races in the future), comfort (may also do some long stuff like Trondheim - Oslo), and longevity, I've been looking for. Sabbath seem like a good outfit too.

  • looks like an old farm dog trying to have a shit

  • You're really killing the passion here. Mondays child wins on the looks front.

Ridden into a Transit at speed.

    Not sure whats happening here.

Driven into from behind by a speeding Transit.

  • I saw the Sabbath bikes in the flesh at the Cycle Show last year, the mix of the graphics and the frame design just doesn't work for me; ugly, ugly bikes.

I was damn close to picking up a De rosa Tango frameset, on clearance, a few years ago. So I cant really comment on matters of taste.

Personally, I like the fact that all the ride tuning features of the Silk road pro are so highly visible. In contrast the Mondays child has identical looking chainstays, but the drive side chainstay is a stiffer straight gauge tube, to balance the rear end. Nice touch.

The Lynskey 340 seems a nice, racey, frameset too. Just seems a bit pricey compared to the Sabbath offerings.

who ever designed that should be shot... it looks so terrible all so many levels

Looks stunning from directly behind though.

  • Don't Sabbath make Shaznay Reade's bmx's ?

From what little i know they make some amazing frames - funny looking but great performing

  • My understanding is they make great performing bikes, but just rather ugly. A hell of a lot of work goes into the tubes, which makes the bikes great value for money. Possibly the titanium equivalent to the Pinarellos - at least all the working on the ti tubes has more of a functional advantage than the wavy carbon tubes.
