  • For sale is my Kogswell P/R (Porteur/Randonneur) frame (including mudguards) that I bought direct from Kogswell in America in late 2006. It is made for 650B wheels, 650B tyres being the best quality tyres you can get in widths over 28mm giving a cushioned, comfortable ride. It will make the perfect tourer, randonneur, commuter or, as it has horizontal dropouts, fixed gear machine. The frame includes the 40 trail fork, which is made for light to medium front loads (such as a handlebar bag or front panniers), but also handles fine without a front load.

This is your chance to own a unique machine, to my knowledge the only one in the UK!.The frame is 61.6cm is to the top of the seat tube from centre of bottom bracket, to the top of the top tube from centre of bottom bracket is 58cm, so sizing is as a 58cm frame (the extra 3.6cm being an extension above the top tube - see picture), standover height is likely lower than a 58cm frame given the smaller than usual wheels!. The top tube length is 58.5cm centre to centre. The frame is new, I've never built it up. It is far too nice a frame to sit around for so long and as I have other projects on the go, I'm offering it up in the hopes that someone can make good use of it.

To buy the frame new from Kogswell cost me $650, shipping it into the UK an extra $100, good old customs charged £40 and I'll include a set of front & rear Mafac tandem cantilever brakes, worth about £40.

Asking price is £360 including P&P within the UK.

  • paging edscoble.

  • oh goodness

if she was a good 5cm smaller :'(

  • paging edscoble.

    You'd think.

too big for me sadly, otherwise I'll be all over this like Murtle with a brick wall.

  • Anyone interested needs to bear in mind the seat tube extension and lower standover from smaller wheels. Also the fact that with this kind of frame, you'll want a rather more upright position than most usually ride on their fixed. So, it's not quite as big as it first seems.

  • Naturally, but 58cm is stretching it for me, I tried to get a Kogswell, but they never replied to any of my mail since Feburary, so I went for something else.

I've got a mate who lives in Oakland, Californiayay and, while helmet shopping a few months ago, he was talking to one of the bike shop workers who turned out be the fella behind Kogswell - he'd had to give it all up for the time being but hoped to start the bike building up again sometime soon. A pity, since they look to be cracking bikes.

  • Anyone know why the pictures are coming up as hyperlinks rather than showing up in the post? (they did show up at first).

  • Pictures fixed for those asking for pics.

  • Near offers considered, can't believe there's no buyer for this beautiful frame.

  • Because it's all about njs track frame from japanese than porteur/randonnees bicycle.

fantastic frame, and still wish it's in my size.

  • it is great, my size and I love it, but I got 'something else' randonneur-wise in the mail today...

    good luck with the sale!

  • A match made in heaven for someone, of that I'm sure!. Where are you lucky buyer?.

  • If you haven't splurged all your Christmas money already, this frame could be yours...

  • Any chance you would split those Mafacs out- desperately seeking some for my Jack Taylor tandem!

  • Are you open to offers?

  • Yes, aslong as they are sensible.

  • Shockingly, this is still available, if anyone wants it.

  • Shocking

    The rim/tyre size shouldn't put any one off. Readily available from Planet X;

  • Saw this, worked out in head how much it would cost including phil 650bs...

... shall keep dreaming... nice though!

  • Tom, you gotta get it as a tourer!

  • I plain and simple can't afford it, shame, my size.

  • This frame has been in a box since 2006, for sale since 2010, and on Tuesday, I pick it up.

It's my birthday on the 10th.

And it will have a front rack.

  • Go for the Soma one, they're very useful, stiff, and have friont panniers mount on the underside.

can't wait to see how you build it, let me know if you need to order 650b tyres too.

  • Grand Bois makes lots of tyres for 650B. http://www.compasscycle.com/tires.html

I want the Hetres for a future project I think, making a fat tyred cruiser/semi off-road bike.

Edited to add: This frame is lovely. :-)
