tim do a search for ga2g's locks that work thread, you'll probably need more than a mini d if you plan on locking your bike up for anything longer than an hour or two. Best not to leave the bike locked up outside overnight as well.
Best to ask at work if they have any areas where you can lock your bike up securely, also have a think abut where you'll be living, and if there's space to keep the bike inside rather than out.
